Dodgers Recall Coulombe, Select Ravin
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today between games of a split doubleheader recalled left-handed pitcher Daniel Coulombe, selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Josh Ravin, optioned catcher Austin Barnes and designated left-handed pitcher David Huff for assignment.
Coulombe, who will be making his third stint with the Dodgers this season, has appeared in one game (May 15 at MIL), allowing one run in 1.0 inning. The reliever was also recalled May 14, but did not see action. This year at Triple-A Oklahoma City, Coulombe has been spectacular, posting a 1.13 ERA (2 ER/15.2 IP) and striking out 18 in 13 games. The Missouri native has tossed scoreless baseball in 12 of his 13 minor league appearances, last giving up a run at Triple-A on April 14 vs. Nashville. Coulombe last pitched on Thursday. He was selected by the Dodgers in the 25th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
Ravin, who will be making his Major League debut, is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA (5 ER/20.0 IP) in 14 games this season. The West Hills native has struck out 30 and is limiting the opposition to a .169 average (12-for-71). Ravin last pitched on Friday night and in his 10-year minor league career is 19-47 with a 5.12 ERA in 209 games (97 starts). The Chatsworth High graduate will wear No. 71.
Barnes was batting .200 (1-for-5) with a walk and a run scored in five games with the Dodgers.
Huff, who had his contract selected and pitched the eighth inning yesterday and today, has allowed six runs in 6.0 innings pitched for the Dodgers this season (three games, one start).
