Peanut butter drive at Safeco Field to fight child hunger

Local Ford Dealers June 5th collection will benefit Northwest Harvest

Northwest Ford Stores are collecting peanut butter at Safeco Field on Friday to benefit Northwest Harvest as part of the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign.

Fans are asked to bring unopened jars of peanut butter to the game against the Tampa Bay Rays and drop them off at the Ford F150 truck display on the plaza next to the Safeco Field garage, or at the Ford display on the Main Concourse near Section 143. Cash donations will also be accepted, and donations can be made online at www.fordfeedskids.org.

The peanut butter drive is in response to the increased demand for nutritious, kid-friendly food during summer months when many children lose access to school nutrition programs. It is estimated nearly 24% of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided and when school is out during the summer months, local food banks carry a larger responsibility to feed kids. Peanut butter is an important protein staple to feed kids during these summer months, but is difficult to acquire in adequate quantities.

This drive is part of a five-state campaign in the Pacific Northwest by Ford dealers to support their community food banks and to make sure no child goes hungry this summer. Started in 2013, the Ford Focus on Child Hunger has provided more than 1 million meals and snacks to hungry kids in the Pacific Northwest.
