Colorado Rockies select infielder Brendan Rodgers as the third overall pick in the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft

With the third overall pick of the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft tonight, the Colorado Rockies selected infielder Brendan Rodgers from Lake Mary (Florida) High School.

The right-handed hitting Rodgers will turn 19 on Aug 9. He batted .360 (27-for-75) with eight home runs and 23 RBI and turned 15 double plays for Lake Mary in 2015. 

The 6-foot, 190-pound shortstop was selected a 2015 Perfect Game 1st Team All-American and Florida All-Region 1st Team. 

As a junior in 2014, he hit .397 with eight home runs, five doubles, 18 RBI and 19 runs scored. Last summer, Rodgers participated in the Under Armour All-American Game and Perfect Game All-American Classic. The 18-year-old was a 2013-14 Perfect Game Underclass 1st Team selection.

The Rockies have three more selections tonight: the 27th selection in the first round, the 38th pick in Competitive Balance A, and No. 44 in the second round.   Rounds three through 10 will be conducted on Tuesday, and the draft concludes on Wednesday with rounds 11-40.
