Padres name Acey Kohrogi advisor, Pacific Rim operations

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced they have named Acey Kohrogi as an advisor, Pacific Rim operations. Kohrogi comes to the Padres from MVP Sports Group, which he joined in 2014 after spending parts of the previous 20 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers, most recently as executive director of Asian operations. Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcement.

While at MVP Sports Group, Kohrogi served as consultant to Asian operations after serving in a similar capacity for the Los Angeles Dodgers. While with the Dodgers, he helped bring several players to Major League Baseball from Asia who became All-Stars in the United States, including Hideo Nomo, Takashi Saito, Hiroki Kuroda, Chan Ho Park and Hong-Chih Kuo.

With the Padres, Kohrogi will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with the Asian Baseball Leagues including the Japanese Professional Baseball League (Nippon Professional Baseball) as well as the Japanese Amateur and Industrial Leagues. He will also assist with scouting and recruiting in the Pacific Rim as well as facilitating player and roster transactions between with the Padres and Asian Professional Baseball teams.
