MLB, Reds unveil All-Star mustache statues to celebrate Cincinnati's rich baseball history

Twenty statues spread across the Queen City to celebrate All-Star Week

Major League Baseball and the Cincinnati Reds today announced that 20 Cincinnati baseball-inspired statues will be placed around the Queen City. Each statue is an oversized mustache emblazoned with unique All-Star or Reds-centric imagery and text. The mustache resembles the handlebar style sported by Reds mascot Mr. Redlegs. Each statue measures 8 feet wide, 2.5 feet high and weighs approximately 850 pounds. On hand for the unveiling outside Cincinnati City Hall were Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley, Reds Chief Operating Officer Phil Castellini, Cincinnati City Manager Harry Black and Reds mascots Mr. Redlegs and Rosie Red.

To complement the statue program, which MLB began ahead of the 2008 All-Star Game, a retail component consists of replica statues modeled after the larger versions that will be placed around the city. The replicas, which are made by Forever Collectibles and double as business card holders, will be available at MLB.com/shop and at the Reds Team Shop by Majestic at Great American Ball Park beginning next week.

MLB All-Star Week at Great American Ball Park includes the 86th MLB All-Star Game (July 14th), Gatorade All-Star Workout Day (July 13th) featuring the Home Run Derby, All-Star Sunday (July 12th) including the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, and T-Mobile All-Star FanFest at the Duke Energy Convention Center (July 10th-14th).
