A's reinstate RHP Griffin from the DL and option him to Nashville

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's reinstated right-handed pitcher A.J. Griffin from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A's transferred left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle to the 60-day disabled list.

Griffin began the season on the disabled list as he continued his recovery from April 30, 2014 "Tommy John" surgery. He started his rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton June 2 and did not allow a run in two starts (7.0 ip, 2 h, 1 bb, 8 so) before he was transferred to Nashville June 12. Griffin started that day for the Sounds at Oklahoma City and took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits and no walks in 4.1 innings.

Doolittle began the season on the disabled list with a strained left rotator cuff and was reinstated May 26. He pitched in one game on May 27 against Detroit, tossing a scoreless sixth inning, before returning to the DL May 28 with a strained left shoulder.
