Twins partner with Prostate Cancer Foundation for Home Run Challenge

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Twins today announced plans to take part in the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) Home Run Challenge from Monday, June 15 through Father's Day on Sunday, June 21. In addition to pledging $10,000 to the PCF Home Run Challenge for every homer hit by a Twins player, the Twins organization will donate $1,000 for every strikeout recorded by a Twins pitcher.

"The Pohlad family and entire Minnesota Twins organization salutes the work of Michael Milken and the PCF," said Twins President Dave St. Peter. "The PCF leadership and vision has inspired our team to play a small role in helping raise incremental dollars in this ongoing fight to cure this deadly disease. We encourage others in and out of baseball to accept the PCF Home Run Challenge and make a contribution today."

The Minnesota Twins and the state of Minnesota have been supporters of the PCF Home Run Challenge for the last 18 years. Through the generous help of the Twins and their fans, the PCF has funded over $1.4 million worth of research in Minnesota for ground-breaking prostate cancer research with the potential to save many lives. Twins have contributed $204,000 to the PCF throughout 2013 and 2014.

The PCF Home Run Challenge is a partnership with Major League Baseball that helps baseball fans join the fight against prostate cancer by raising money for research through monetary pledges based upon each home run hit. Since its creation in 1997, the PCF Home Run Challenge has raised over $45 million for prostate cancer research.
