Astros sign nine players from 2015 MLB draft class
Group highlighted by 4th-rounder Hermelyn and 5th-rounder Thornton
The Houston Astros announced today that the club has signed an additional nine players who were selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Those players include catcher Anthony Hermelyn, right-handed pitcher Trent Thornton, right-handed pitcher Scott Weathersby, outfielder Pat Porter, right-handed pitcher Adam Whitt, outfielder Andrew Ferguson, infielder Brooks Marlow, infielder Keach Ballard and right-handed pitcher Ryan Deemes. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. The official announcement was made by Astros Director of Amateur Scouting Mike Elias.
Hermelyn (4th round), Thornton (5th round) and Weathersby (10th round) were all selected within the top 10 rounds of the draft.
Houston has now signed 10 of their 42 selections from the 2015 draft, which includes yesterday's announced signing of outfielder Kyle Tucker.
