Astros sign eight players from 2015 MLB draft class

Group highlighted by sixth-round pick Nestor Muriel

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros announced today that the club has signed an additional eight players who were selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Those players include outfielder Nestor Muriel, right-handed pitcher Kevin McCanna, center fielder Johnny Sewald, right-handed pitcher Makay Nelson, left-handed pitcher Alex Winkelman, right-handed pitcher Chris Murphy, catcher Jorge Martinez and right-handed pitcher Zac Grotz. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. The official announcement was made by Astros Director of Amateur Scouting Mike Elias.

Muriel, an outfielder, was selected in the sixth round out of the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy High School in Puerto Rico.

Houston has now signed 18 of their 42 selections from the 2015 draft, which includes Monday's announced signing of outfielder Kyle Tucker.
