A's reinstate RHP Edward Mujica and 1B Ike Davis from the Disabled List
Option RHP Arnold Leon to Triple-A Nashville; Designate IF Andy Parrino for Assignment
The Oakland A's reinstated right-handed pitcher Edward Mujica and first baseman Ike Davis from the 15-day disabled list, the club announced today. To clear space on the roster, the A's optioned right-handed pitcher Arnold Leon to Triple-A Nashville and designated infielder Andy Parrino for assignment.
Mujica was placed on the disabled list May 22 with a fractured right thumb. He appeared in two games with Single-A Stockton on a rehab assignment on Monday and Thursday and did not allow a base runner in 2.0 innings while striking out four. Mujica began the year with Boston and compiled a 4.61 ERA in 11 games before he was designated for assignment May 8. He was traded to Oakland the next day for a player to be named later or cash and has not allowed a run in five games and 5.1 innings with the A's.
Davis was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 17 retroactive to May 14 with a strained left quad. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville a week ago today and went 5-for-21 (.238) with five RBI in five games (four at first base, one at designated hitter). Davis is hitting .282 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 33 games with Oakland.
Leon was recalled from Nashville a week ago today for his third stint with the A's this year and pitched once since his return on Wednesday (1.0 ip, 1 h, 1 so). He has a 4.26 ERA in six games overall with Oakland. Parrino was selected from Nashville May 22 and appeared in 16 of the A's 26 games since then. However, he was just 0-for-6 with five strikeouts and two walks.
