Indians promote RHP Toru Murata from Columbus

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Purchased the contract of RHP TORU MURATA (#61) from AAA Columbus (26th man for today's doubleheader in Baltimore)

Murata, 30, has spent the entire season at AAA Columbus, posting a record of 5.3 with a 2.79 ERA in 14 games/13 starts (80.2IP, 74H, 25ER, 24BB, 48K, .244avg). He currently sports the 6th-lowest ERA in the International League and over his last 9 starts since May 10 he owns an ERA of 2.41 (59.2IP, 55H, 16ER). The Osaka, Japan native will be making his Major League debut tonight in Baltimore's Camden Yards against the Orioles at 7:05 PM ET. Murata will be optioned to Columbus following the conclusion of tonight's game.

The Indians 40-man roster is now at 40 players.

Also today the Indians released RHP SCOTT ATCHISON after his designation on June 23.
