Reyes and Wisdom earn Cardinals Minor League honors for June

Reyes was 4-0 with a Texas League All-Star Selection while Wisdom hit 7 HR and 23 RBI during the month

ST. LOUIS, MO (July 3, 2015) - The St. Louis Cardinals announced their Minor League Pitcher and Player of the Month for June by honoring pitcher Arturo Reyes and third baseman Patrick Wisdom both currently playing at Springfield (AA), for their accomplishments on the field.

Reyes, 23, was the Cardinals 40th round (1,205th overall) selection out of Gonzaga University in the 2013 first-year Player Draft. The right-handed starter was 4-0 with a 1.84 ERA over five starts during the month, winning four straight starts from June 3-19. Reyes posted three scoreless starts and struck out seven or more batters on three occasions. He threw a one-hit outing over 6.2 scoreless innings at Tulsa on June 14, before being removed at 99 pitches. A Texas League All-Star selection, Reyes threw a perfect 3rd inning with a strikeout for the North Squad in the game. Reyes is the first Cardinals minor leaguer since Kevin Siegrist (41st round) in May 2013, to win the monthly award being drafted in the 40th round or higher.

Wisdom, 23, the Cardinals Supplemental 1st round (52nd overall) selection out of St. Mary's (Calif.) College in the 2012 first-year player draft, batted .307 (27-88) with seven home runs and 23 RBI over 25 games, playing 22 at third base. His seven home runs and 23 RBI tied for the 2nd most among all Double-A batters. The right-handed slugger is currently tied for 9th in the Texas league with 8 HR and 37 RBI this season. Wisdom had 11 multi-hit games and a five-game RBI streak during the month of June, including an effort on June 15 at Tulsa in which he hit two home runs including the game-winning grand slam to break a 4-4 tie in the 10th inning as part of a five RBI game. It marked Wisdom's third career multi-homer game and a career-best for RBI in a game.
