Cubs activate OF Jorge Soler, option OF Matt Szczur to Triple-A Iowa

CHICAGO - The Chicago Cubs today activated outfielder Jorge Soler from the 15-day disabled list. Outfielder Matt Szczur has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Soler will be available for the Cubs this afternoon in their series finale against the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field.

Soler, 23, is hitting .265 (50-for-189) with 12 doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI in 49 games this season. He suffered a left ankle sprain on June 1 at Miami and was placed on the disabled list two days later. Soler played in four games as part of his rehab assignment with Iowa, going 2-for-13 (.154) with three walks and one RBI.

Szczur, 26, is batting .211 (12-for-57) with one home run and eight RBI in 32 games for the Cubs this season. He is batting .287 (37-for-129) with six doubles, two triples, four home runs and 18 RBI in 36 games with Iowa this year.
