2015 Texas Rangers Alumni Weekend Events, July 10-11

Juan Gonzalez and Jeff Russell to be inducted as 18th and 19th members of Texas Rangers Hall of Fame

Arlington, Texas - The 2015 Texas Rangers Alumni Weekend will take place this Friday and Saturday, July 10-11 when the club hosts the San Diego Padres at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

The weekend will be highlighted by the induction of outfielder Juan Gonzalez and pitcher Jeff Russell as the 18th and 19th members of the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame. The induction will take place in a pre-game on-field ceremony prior to the Saturday game with the Padres beginning at 7:20 p.m. First pitch for the Rangers-Padres game on Saturday is 8:05 p.m. 

Gonzalez, a two-time American League Most Valuable Player and Russell, the A.L.'s 1989 Fireman of the Year, were elected in voting conducted by the Hall of Fame selection committee, which is comprised of all living Texas Rangers Hall of Fame inductees, veteran members of the media, and Rangers club officials.

In addition, over 45 former Rangers players and coaches are expected to participate in the weekend activities, including over 25 individuals who were teammates of Gonzalez and Russell.

Events scheduled for Alumni Weekend:

FRIDAY, JULY 10

Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Hall of Fame Luncheon, Globe Life Park in Arlington, Cholula Porch, 11:30 a.m.

Program will include question and answer sessions with:

--Tom Grieve, Toby Harrah, Charlie Hough, and Jim Sundberg

--Rusty Greer, Tom Grieve, Ivan Rodriguez, and Ruben Sierra

--Jeff Russell and Steve Busby

NOTE TO MEDIA: Jeff Russell and Rangers Hall of Famers will be available in a media session on Friday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Third Floor of the Hall of Fame. To enter, take the Cholula Porch elevator (former Friday's Front Row entrance) and exit at HP. Media will be directed to the third floor of the Hall of Fame from there.

SATURDAY, JULY 11

On-field induction of Juan Gonzalez and Jeff Russell into the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame, 7:20 p.m.

--Rangers Hall of Famers Rusty Greer, Tom Grieve, Toby Harrah, Charlie Hough, Ivan Rodriguez, Tom Schieffer, Ruben Sierra and Jim Sundberg are expected to be in attendance. Grieve and former Rangers pitching coach Tom House will be among the speakers in the ceremony. Rangers television broadcaster Steve Busby will serve as master of ceremonies.
