Indians recall Jose Ramirez, place Mike Aviles on MLB Family Medical Emergency List

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Recalled INF JOSE RAMIREZ from Triple-A Columbus.

Place INF MIKE AVILES on MLB Family Medical Emergency List.

Ramirez, 22, is set to begin his second stint of the season with Cleveland, as he began the year with the Major League club, batting .180 (27-150) with 6 doubles, one HR, 8 RBI, 19 runs scored and 8 stolen bases in 46 games for the Indians. Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on June 7 and has hit .349 (38-109) with 7 2B, 2 3B, one HR, 10 RBI, 18 runs scored and 13 steals in 28 games with the Clippers, appearing at three different defensive positions (2B, SS, LF).

Aviles, 34, is batting .250 (41-164) with 5 2B, 4 HR, 9 RBI and 22 runs scored in 54 games for Cleveland this season. He was previously on MLB's Family Medical Emergency List (May 8-14) and Restricted List (May 15-17) from May 8-17. A player may remain on the Family Medical Emergency List for three to seven days.
