Cubs activate C David Ross from D.L., option OF Mike Baxter to Triple-A Iowa

CHICAGO - The Chicago Cubs today activated catcher David Ross from the seven-day concussion disabled list and optioned outfielder Mike Baxter to Triple-A Iowa.

Ross will be available for the Cubs this afternoon against the Chicago White Sox at Wrigley Field.

The 38-year-old Ross was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list on July 4 (retroactive to July 2). He is batting .189 (14-for-74) with seven doubles and four RBI in 38 games this season. Ross owns a 2.56 catchers ERA (53 ER/186.1 IP) in his 28 games (22 starts) behind the plate, with the Cubs posting a 13-9 record in his starts.

Baxter, 30, is batting .246 (14-for-57) with one double and two RBI in 34 games with the Cubs this season. He has batted .290 (29-for-100) with four doubles, eight RBI and a .377 on-base percentage in 34 games with Iowa this year.
