Pirates Sign Two More Players From 2015 Draft

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed the following players from the 2015 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Joe DelliCarri, Pirates Director of Amateur Scouting.

Went 5-5 with a 3.93 ERA (110.0ip/48er) in 19 starts this season as a junior for the 2015 NCAA champion University of Virginia Cavaliers…Was the winning pitcher in the third and deciding game of the World Series against Vanderbilit after allowing two runs in 7.0 innings of work…Went 2-0 with a 2.62 ERA in five starts during the 2015 NCAA Tournament…Was named to the All-College World Series team for a second straight season in 2015 to become the first person to do so in consecutive seasons since South Carolina's Michael Roth and Christian Walker (2011 & 2012)…Made a University of Virginia record 53 starts in his career…His 19 starts in 2015 were tied for the national lead along with Florida's Logan Shore and Vanderbilt's Carson Fulmer…Made five career starts in the College World Series, tying him for fifth-most all-time along with eight other players…Was a third-team All-ACC honoree and was selected to the College World Series All-Tournament Team in 2014…Went 10-3 with a 2.45 ERA (114.0ip/31er) in 18 starts as a sophomore for Virginia (the Cavaliers went 15-3 in his starts)…Went 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in four starts during the 2014 NCAA tournament…Ranked second in the ACC with 10 wins in 2014...Tied for third among all freshmen nationally in strikeouts (84) in 2013.

The Pirates have now signed 33 players from this year's draft.
