Braves Agree to Terms with Pitcher Jason Frasor

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Atlanta Braves and free-agent right-handed pitcher Jason Frasor have agreed to terms on a Major League contract for the remainder of the 2015 season. He will wear uniform number 51.

Frasor, 37, appeared in 26 games with the Kansas City Royals this season, compiling a 1-0 record with a 1.54 ERA (4 ER/23.1 IP) and striking out 18 before being released on July 15. Since 2013, he has pitched to a 9-4 mark over 148 games, tallying a 2.41 ERA (32 ER/119.2 IP) and allowing opponents to hit just .230 against him.

The veteran has spent his entire 12-year Major League career in the American League and has gone 35-35 over 673 games, pitching to a 3.52 ERA (251 ER/642.0 IP) and logging 36 saves. Since his debut in 2004, Frasor's 673 career appearances rank as the fifth-most in the majors, while his 642.0 innings stand as sixth-most among relievers in that span.

He spent parts of the first nine seasons of his career (2004-12) with Toronto, and holds the record for most appearances as a Blue Jay with 505, while sitting third in franchise history in innings (504.2) and strikeouts (479) as a reliever. Frasor logged a career-best 17 saves during his rookie season in 2004, and pitched in a career-high 74.2 innings during his sophomore campaign in 2005.

Frasor made his postseason debut in 2014 with Kansas City and went a perfect 2-0, becoming the sixth Royals pitcher to record two victories in a single postseason after earning wins in the Wild Card game vs. Oakland and in Game 3 of the ALCS vs. Baltimore. He made seven appearances overall last postseason, pitching to a 1.69 ERA (1 ER/5.1 IP).

A native of Chicago, Ill., Frasor was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 33^rd round of the 1999 June free agent draft out of Southern Illinois University.
