Royals Host Children at The K for Memorable Events

KANSAS CITY, MO  - To start the second half of the 2015 home season, the Kansas City Royals return to Kauffman Stadium to host the Pittsburgh Pirates (July 20-22) and Houston Astros (July 24-26). The Royals will host several groups during the homestand. Also note, the Royals will be traveling to St. Louis on July 23 to play a makeup game against the Cardinals, which was postponed by rain on June 14.      

Monday, July 20 - Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

• U.S. Navy Announcement - U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus will make an important announcement during a special pre-game ceremony with Kansas City, Mo., Mayor Sly James. The secretary will also administer the Oath of Enlistment to several future sailors during the ceremony.

• 2015 MLB-Royals All-Star Scholars Presentation - The 2015 Royals Scholars will also be introduced on the field prior to the game. Each student receives up to a $10,000 scholarship at any two- or four-year college or university in Missouri or Kansas. These five students were selected from the 20/20 Leadership program, which serves to educate and expose students to community issues, develop personal and leadership skills and build community-wide relationships. Proceeds from the 2012 All-Star Game in Kansas City fund the program. 

• Perfect Attendance Night - Nearly 4,000 area elementary school children who achieve perfect attendance throughout the academic school year are honored at the second of two Perfect Attendance Days (the first was June 18). The Royals salute these dedicated students with complimentary tickets.

Tuesday, July 21 - Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

• Hosmer hosts Big Brothers, Big Sisters - Eric Hosmer will host 30 participants from the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City program. The first baseman will meet the group before the game.

• Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.

Wednesday, July 22 - Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

• Clinic with Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids - The club has partnered with Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids for a second year to host a youth clinic for approximately 40 children with special needs. Each child will receive a personalized jersey and take part in a clinic with stations led by current and former Royals players. The event, which was originally scheduled for July 7 and postponed due to a rescheduled doubleheader, will take place on The Little K at Kauffman Stadium and will start at 1:30 p.m. 

• Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

• KCK RBI Night - The Royals will host participants in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program of Kansas City, Kan., for a special night at Kauffman Stadium. The kids receive complimentary tickets and food while taking in the game.

Thursday, July 23 - Royals @ St. Louis Cardinals, 6:15 p.m.

Friday, July 24 - Houston Astros vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

• Cell Phone Recycling Event - The Royals are partnering with Ericsson to help fans recycle old cell phones at the Sprint Store Oak Park located at the Quivira 95 Shops at 11788 W. 95th Street in Overland Park, Kan., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participating fans will receive two free Royals tickets to an upcoming 2015 home game while supplies last. • Moose Lodge - Third baseman Mike Moustakas, together with the Royals and KCP&L, will host foster care children and their families in the Moose Lodge. Each child from KVC Health Systems will receive a complimentary ticket, a "Moose Lodge" t-shirt and a free meal courtesy of ARAMARK and Papa John's Pizza. The special guests will also participate in a meet-and-greet with Moustakas.

Saturday, July 25 - Houston Astros vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

• Royals Charities Check Presentation to Community Services League - Due to the overwhelming funds raised during the 2014 Royals postseason run, Royals Charities opened a special postseason grant-funding opportunity for Kansas City nonprofit organizations. Community Services League was selected as a recipient of a $50,000 grant to support its 2015 Back to School Fair, which supports two of the Royals Charities pillars: children and education. Sunday, July 26 - Houston Astros vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

• Autism Awareness Day - Major League Baseball and the Royals partner with Autism Speaks to help raise awareness and create a special day featuring a fun, safe and family-friendly environment for fans who are a part of the Autism Speaks family. Specific sections in the Fountain Seats and Outfield Box are reserved for this event and may be purchased at www.royals.com/autismspeaks

• Royals Charities and MLBPAA Concourse Auction - Royals Charities and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association host a silent auction near Guest Services on the main concourse from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning.
