Max Scherzer to launch Big League Impact DC and host fantasy football fundraiser at Nationals Park on Saturday, August 22

Big League Impact DC Fantasy Football Expected Roster: Max Scherzer, Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg, Ryan Zimmerman, Denard Span and Matt Thornton

In an effort to raise funds for the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy and to join other "Big Leaguers" around the country in making a global impact, Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer has teamed up with Adam Wainwright's Big League Impact to launch Big League Impact DC. His inaugural event will be a fantasy football draft held on Saturday, August 22 at Nationals Park. Proceeds from the tax deductible fundraiser will benefit the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy and the Big League Impact Global Fund.

Big League Impact DC participants will not only play in a fantasy football league that includes Max or one of his Nationals teammates like Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg, Ryan Zimmerman, Denard Span and Matt Thornton, but, will also attend a live draft at Nationals Park on Saturday, August 22 with the players.* Participants will enjoy a full day of activities following the live fantasy football draft including but not limited to: VIP access to batting practice, party suite tickets for that night's Nationals vs. Brewers game and team photos for each league with their Nationals player. This once in a lifetime experience also provides weekly interaction and competition between participants and their fantasy football league's Nationals player throughout the 2015 NFL season.

"I am excited to bring Big League Impact to Washington D.C. to help raise funds for three incredible charities", said Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals. "This is a great chance for our fans to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity with some of their favorite Nationals players."

"We are thrilled that Max Scherzer is helping to support our work and the work of the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy through this partnership with Big League Impact," said Principal Owner and Washington Nationals Dream Foundation Chairperson Marla Lerner Tanenbaum. "We so appreciate Max's enthusiasm for our work."

For each scheduled event, Big League Impact raises money for local and global charities through contributions from participants in the fantasy football leagues. A portion of the proceeds benefit a transformative international project that will bring multiple charity organizations together to provide basic needs around the world. This year, Big League Impact has set a global goal to provide clean drinking water for 5,000 people through Water Missions International, provide 2,500 mosquito nets to help stop the spread of malaria, help 100,000 children by relieving them of internal parasites, and preventing blindness in 500+ individuals.
