Lindos Suenos Teens to Repair Homes in Dominican Republic Next Week
10 Boston-area Teens to Play Baseball with Dominican Teens and Together, Engage in Community Service for 10 Days in program presented by JetBlue
BOSTON, MA - For the 12th straight year, the Boston Red Sox are coordinating their annual community outreach program to the Dominican Republic. Lindos Sueños, presented by JetBlue, will send 10 American teens to underserved areas of the Dominican Republic to perform community service and play baseball each day with local teens at the Red Sox JetBlue Dominican Academy in El Toro.
Before playing baseball each afternoon with Dominican teens, the American and Dominican participants collaborate each morning to paint and repair homes in El Mamón, a small village adjacent to the academy. They also will perform community service in Manoguayabo, Pedro Martinez's hometown just outside of Santo Domingo, where they will work with his foundation, The Pedro Martinez and Brothers Foundation.

"JetBlue shares a similar mission with the Boston Red Sox organization as we join together each year to bring a group of community-focused students to areas in need to make a difference. As the largest airline in the Dominican Republic and Boston, it is important to us to support both communities."
JetBlue will donate roundtrip flights for all 10 teens and members of the Lindos Sueños staff. Similar to previous trips, the program is primarily funded by a donation to the Red Sox Foundation from the Charles Engelhard Foundation.
During this 2015 season, Red Sox right-hander Jonathan Aro became the first Lindos Sueños participant to reach the major leagues.
