Cardinals add newly-acquired Cishek to roster; team options LHP Tim Cooney to Memphis (AAA)

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior tonight's game that they have added newly-acquired right-handed reliever Steve Cishek (pronounced SEE-sheck) to the team's 25-man active roster and optioned left-handed pitcher Tim Cooney to Memphis (AAA).

Cishek, who was acquired yesterday in a trade with Miami, will wear uniform no. 28.

Cooney worked 7.0 solid innings in the Cardinals 4-2 win over Atlanta last night to help secure his first Major League win. Cooney, a rookie, is 1-0 with a 3.16 ERA in his six starts for the Cardinals this season.
