Cleveland Indians & St. Louis Cardinals complete trade
The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves:
Acquired LHP ROB KAMINSKY from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for OF/1B BRANDON MOSS.
Kaminsky, 20, was selected by St. Louis in the First Round (28th overall) of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of St. Joseph Regional High School (Montvale, NJ) and entered the 2015 campaign ranked as the third-best prospect in the Cardinals organization according to MLB.com, the fifth-best according to Baseball America and the 88th-overall prospect in all of Major League Baseball (MLB.com)
The 5-foot-11, 191-pound left-hander has spent the entire season in the Florida State League at High-A Palm Beach, going 6-5 with a 2.09 ERA (94.2IP, 82H, 29R/22ER, 0HR, 28BB, 79SO) across 17 games/starts for the Cardinals. He is currently leading the Florida State League in ERA (2.09) and is tied for 8th in strikeouts (79). In parts of three Minor League seasons, Kaminsky is 14-10 with a 2.15 ERA (217.1IP, 176H, 70R/52ER) and 186 strikeouts against 68 walks in 43 games/40 starts. The southpaw has allowed just 3 home runs in 217.1 career innings. Prior to being drafted by St. Louis, Kaminsky was verbally committed to the University of North Carolina. He will be assigned to Class-A Lynchburg.
Moss, 31, batted .217 (73-337) with 17 doubles, one triple, 15 home runs and 50 RBI in 94 games for Cleveland.
