Marlins acquire three Minor League pitchers from Dodgers

RHs Guzman, Brigham & Araujo acquired from Los Angeles

MIAMI - The Miami Marlins today acquired Minor League right-handed pitchers Kevin Guzman, Jeff Brigham and Victor Araujo from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for RHP Mat Latos, 1B Michael Morse and cash considerations. In addition, the Marlins will send their 2016 competitive balance draft pick to the Atlanta Braves. The announcement was made by Marlins' President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill.

Guzman, 20, has spent the 2015 season pitching for Single-A Great Lakes in the Midwest League, posting a 5-7, 3.90 mark in 17 games, 15 starts. He was signed by the Dodgers out of Venezuela in 2013, pitching for the Dodgers' Dominican Summer League team in 2013 and their Arizona League team in 2014. Guzman was born in Maracay, Venezuela.

Brigham, 23, was a fourth-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2014 out of the University of Washington. He began the 2015 season with Great Lakes, going 2-0, 1.29 in two relief appearances before being promoted to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, where he was 4-5, 5.96 in 17 games, 14 starts. Brigham was born in Federal Way, WA and made his pro debut in 2014 with Ogden.

Araujo, 22, was signed by the Dodgers out of the Dominican Republic in 2009, making his pro debut in 2010 with the DSL Dodgers. He has spent the 2015 season with Rancho Cucamonga, going 3-3, 5.40 in 32 relief appearances, with 55 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched, while walking just 14. Araujo, who was born in Santiago, DR, has compiled 339 strikeouts in 332.2 minor league innings, with just 91 walks. He was named an MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2014.

Guzman will be assigned to Single-A Greensboro, while Brigham and Araujo will be assigned to Single-A Jupiter.
