Brewers acquire right-handed pitcher Zach Davies from the Orioles

Send outfielder Gerardo Parra to Baltimore

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher Zach Davies from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for outfielder Gerardo Parra. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Doug Melvin.

Davies will be assigned to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Right-handed pitcher Tyler Thornburg has been recalled from Colorado Springs.

Davies, 22, entered the 2015 season as the sixth-best prospect in the Orioles organization according to Baseball America. He was selected by Baltimore in the 26th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft. He has gone 27-29 with a 3.47 ERA in 101 games (81 starts) during his career in the minor leagues (2012-15), including 5-6 with a 2.84 ERA in 19 games (18 starts) at Triple-A Norfolk this season.

Parra, 28, batted .312 with 12 HR and 41 RBI in 146 games as a Brewer (2014-15). He was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks last July 31 in exchange for outfielder Mitch Haniger and left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda. Parra is batting .328 with 9 HR and 31 RBI in 100 games this season. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner (2011 and 2013) is a career .279 hitter with 51 HR and 291 RBI in 933 games between Arizona (2009-14) and Milwaukee.
