Indians promote Crockett & Ramirez from Triple-A; place Kipnis on 15-day DL

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Placed INF JASON KIPNIS on the 15-day Disabled List with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to August 2.

Recalled LHP KYLE CROCKETT (#57) and INF JOSE RAMIREZ (#11) from AAA Columbus.

Optioned LHP MICHAEL ROTH to AAA Columbus.

Kipnis is beginning his third career stint on the Major League Disabled List. So far this year he is batting .326 (132-405) with 31 doubles, 6 triples, 6 home runs and 39 RBI in 101 games. He is currently leading the American League in hits (132), doubles (31) and times on base (187), is second in on-base pct (.401) and third in batting average (.326). 

Crockett, 23, has spent the majority of the 2015 season in AAA Columbus, posting a record of 3-1 with a 5.97 ERA in 29 relief appearances (28.2IP, 42H, 19ER, 11BB, 27K). He is beginning his fourth stint with Cleveland this year and owns a 3.00 ERA in 9 appearances thus far (8 scoreless, 6.0IP, 5H, 2R/ER, 3BB, 5K).

Ramirez, 22, has split the 2015 season between Cleveland and Columbus after opening the season as the everyday shortstop with the Indians. With Columbus he is batting .293 (51-174) with 29 runs, 13 2B, 2 3B, 1HR & 12 RBI in 44 games and has struck out just 9 times in 195 plate appearances while stealing 15 bases in 19 attempts. Defensively for the Clippers he has appeared in 28 games at second base, 10 games at shortstop, 3 games at third base and 2 games in left field. During his time in Cleveland he has appeared in 47 games and batted .176 (27-153) over two stints, April 5-June 7 and July 10-13.
