A's Announce 2016 Regular Season Schedule

The Oakland A's, who will open the season at home for the seventh year in a row and host weekend series against the Yankees, Red Sox and NL Central playoff hopefuls the Cubs and Pirates, today announced their schedule for the 2016 regular season.  

The A's christen the 2016 season Monday, April 4 against the White Sox at 7:05 p.m. Later in April, Oakland embarks on a stretch where it will spend 22 of 28 days in the Eastern Time Zone. The A's travel to New York-AL (April 19-21), Toronto (April 22-24) and Detroit (April 25-28), return home to host the Astros (April 29-May 1) and Mariners (May 2-4) and then leave for an 11-day, nine-game trip to Baltimore (May 6-8), Boston (May 9-11) and Tampa Bay (May 13-15).

Highlights from two homestands in May include the A's first fireworks game of the year against the Yankees Friday, May 20 and a 1:05 p.m. start on Memorial Day, May 30 against the Twins.

In June, Oakland makes an 11-day, eight-game road trip to Houston (June 3-5), Milwaukee (June 7-8) and Cincinnati (June 10-12). It will mark the A's first trip to the two National League cities since the last time they faced the NL Central in 2013. June also features the A's home-and-home series against the Giants, playing in San Francisco June 27-28 and at O.co Coliseum June 29-30. Both games in Oakland will start at 7:05 p.m.

The A's will spend 14 of 17 days in the Central Time Zone from Aug. 15-31. The A's play the Rangers in Texas (Aug. 15-17) and White Sox in Chicago (Aug. 19-21), return to Oakland for three games against the Indians (Aug. 22-24) and then leave the following day for series in St. Louis (Aug. 26-28) and Houston (Aug. 29-31).

The A's conclude the regular season with 15 home games in September, starting the month with a weekend series against the Red Sox (Sep. 2-4) and followed by home series against the Angels (Sep. 5-7) and Mariners (Sep. 9-11). The A's close their home schedule with a seven-day, six-game stand against the Astros (Sep. 19-21) and Rangers (Sep. 23-25), including the final fireworks show of the season (Sep. 23), before wrapping up the regular season in Anaheim (Sep. 26-28) and Seattle (Sep. 29-Oct. 2).

Other highlights from the A's 2016 home schedule include:

• The A's will play 13 of 16 games in Oakland from May 16-June 1. That includes a seven-game homestand against the Rangers (May 16-18) and Yankees (May 19-22) and a six-game stand against the Tigers (May 27-29) and Twins (May 30-June 1).
• The A's open July by welcoming the Pirates to Oakland for the first time since 2010 (July 1-3). Also in July, Oakland will have one of two season-long 10-game homestands immediately following the All-Star Break, hosting the Blue Jays (July 15-17), Astros (July 18-20) and Rays (July 21-24).
• The second 10-game homestand comes in August, as Oakland plays host to the Cubs (Aug. 5-7), Orioles (Aug. 8-11) and Mariners (Aug. 12-14).
• In addition to Memorial Day, the A's will also be in Oakland for two other holidays: Father's Day (June 19) and Labor Day (Sep. 5), both games against the Angels.

The A's also released their home dates for the 2016 Cactus League season at Hohokam Stadium. Oakland will open the home portion of its Spring Training schedule Friday, March 4 against the Rockies. Other notable games from the A's 15 home contests in Mesa include: March 10 vs. Los Angeles-NL, March 13 vs. Chicago-NL and March 14 vs. San Francisco.
