Rangers announce that Mike Maddux will not return as pitching coach in 2016

The Texas Rangers announced today that pitching coach Mike Maddux will not be returning to the organization in 2016.

"Jeff Banister and I met with Mike this morning to inform him we had decided to go in another direction," commented President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jon Daniels. "I want to thank Mike for his outstanding contributions to the Texas Rangers organization. He has played a major role in the success we have enjoyed over the last seven years. His dedication to developing and improving our major league pitching staff is greatly appreciated."      

Maddux was appointed as the Rangers pitching coach in November 2008 after serving in that same role with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003-08.

Other coaches not returning to the major league staff in 2016 are bullpen coach Andy Hawkins, who resigned to pursue opportunities with other teams, and hitting coach Dave. Magadan, who by mutual decision has left the organization to seek opportunities in baseball closer to his home in Florida.

The Rangers are currently in the interview process for the open positions on Banister's 2016 major league coaching staff.
 
Members of the coaching staff expected to return in 2016 are third base coach Tony Beasley, bench coach Steve Buechele, assistant hitting coach Bobby Jones, first base coach Hector Ortiz, and field coordinator Jayce Tingler.
