2016 Texas Rangers Dr Pepper Awards Dinner Set for Jan. 22; Fielder Named 2015 Rangers Player of the Year

Arlington, Texas - The 2016 Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Awards Dinner take place on Friday, January 22 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine. Details of the event were announced today.
 
Tickets for the dinner, which will honor a number of baseball personalities and feature appearances by Texas Rangers past and present, went on sale today at www.texasrangers.com/awards.
 
Among the honorees will be first baseman-designated hitter Prince Fielder, who was announced today as the Texas Rangers 2015 Player of the Year in voting conducted by the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
 
After appearing in just 42 games due to a neck injury in 2014, Fielder batted .305 with 23 home runs and 98 RBI in 158 games for the A.L. West Division Champion Rangers this season. He ranked third in the league with 187 hits, tied for third with 57 multi-hit games, had the A.L.'s sixth best batting average, and produced the ninth most RBI. Fielder started 157 games as the DH (139) or first baseman (18). He was selected to play in this year's All-Star Game and last week was named the 2015 American League Comeback Player of the Year by The Sporting News.
 
Other award recipients will be announced in the upcoming weeks, including the Rangers 2015 Pitcher and Rookie of the Year.
 
Tickets for the Dr Pepper Awards Dinner are priced at $100.00 each with tables of ten available for $1000.00. Net proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. The dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m.
 
The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center is located at 1501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine. The event will take place in the Texas Ballroom. The 2016 Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Awards Dinner is also sponsored by Fox Sports Southwest, TXA21, CBS11, 105.3 The Fan, and ESPN Deportes 1540 AM.
