D-backs exercise 2016 options on Brad Ziegler and Josh Collmenter

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have exercised the 2016 club options with right-handed pitchers Brad Ziegler and Josh Collmenter, as announced by D-backs Sr. Vice President & General Manager Dave Stewart.

Ziegler, 36, set career bests this season in saves (30) and WHIP (0.96), going 0-3 with a 1.85 ERA (14 ER in 68.0 IP) in 66 games. He ranked among National League relievers in ERA (5th), save percentage (5th, .93.8), WHIP (10th) and saves (T-10th).

Ziegler, who is the all-time franchise leader in relief ERA (2.45) and appearances (312), is 1 of 3 pitchers to appear in 60+ games in each of the last 6 seasons (also: Javier Lopez and Tyler Clippard). In 8 Major League seasons with the Oakland A's (2008-11) and D-backs (2011-), he is 30-21 with 63 saves and a 2.47 ERA (145 ER in 528.2 IP) in 535 games.

Collmenter, 29, appeared in 44 games (12 starts) with Arizona this season and went 4-6 with 1 save and a 3.79 ERA (51 ER in 121.0 IP). He was sixth among NL relievers with a 1.89 ERA (11 ER in 52.1 IP), and finished as 1 of 8 pitchers in the NL with at least 10 starts and relief appearances.

In 5 seasons with the D-backs (2011-), Collmenter has gone 35-33 with 2 saves and a 3.49 ERA (247 ER in 637.0 IP). He ranks eighth on the club's all-time list in strikeouts (443) and innings pitched and ninth in wins.
