Rangers Minor Leaguer Van Hoosier suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Texas Rangers Minor League second baseman Evan Van Hoosier has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Amphetamine and for a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Van Hoosier, who had been playing for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League, is on the roster of the Single-A High Desert Mavericks of the California League. The suspension, which includes the remainder of games in the AFL season, is effective immediately.
