A's Claim OF Andrew Lambo off Waivers from Pittsburgh

The Oakland A's claimed outfielder Andrew Lambo off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates, the club announced today.

Lambo was on the Pirates Opening Day roster and went 1-for-25 (.040) in 20 games before going on the disabled list May 6 with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 26 and missed the remainder of the season. Lambo started two games in right field and one in left field and also went 0-for-12 with two walks as a pinch hitter. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2007 draft and was traded to Pittsburgh at the trading deadline in 2010. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter made his Major League debut with Pittsburgh in 2013 and is a .191 career hitter with one home run and three RBI in 59 games in three seasons. Lambo has a .280 career batting average in the minors with 100 home runs and 442 RBI in 741 games.
