HOUSTON, TX - Outfielder Colby Rasmus has accepted the Astros qualifying offer and will return to the club for the 2016 season, General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today.

Luhnow will be available to the media in the press conference room this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. CT. Rasmus will be available via conference call at 3:15 p.m. CT. The conference call can be accessed by dialing 1-877-746-4263. The conference participant code is 0253244#.

Rasmus, 29, hit a career-high 25 home runs with a .789 OPS (.314 OBP/.475 SLG) and a team-leading nine outfield assists in 137 games with the Astros in 2015 after signing with the club as a free agent in the offseason. His .475 slugging percentage ranked ninth among AL outfielders in 2015, and his 81 homers over the last four years rank fifth among AL outfielders. During the 2015 postseason, Rasmus hit .412 (7x17) with four homers, six RBI and a 1.760 OPS in six games, becoming the first player in Major League history to record an extra-base hit in each of his first six career playoff games.
