Dodgers Present 11th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway Thursday

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF), in partnership with Ralphs/Food 4 Less, will host the 11th annual Community Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at Dodger Stadium Thursday, November 19 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Dodger special guests will be in attendance. Dodger Alumni League members Ron Cey, Al "The Bull" Ferrara, Matt Luke, Dennis Powell and Derrel Thomas will be on hand to help distribute a complimentary turkey, fixings and reusable canvas bags to 1,200 pre-selected families and not-for-profit community organizations who will in turn distribute them to Los Angeles area families in need.

"Our community efforts enable us to make a difference throughout the year, but the Dodgers particularly enjoy the holiday season because it provides a forum for us to give back to those in need," said Dodger Senior Director, External Affairs and Community Relations Naomi Rodriguez. "It is particularly gratifying to help make the holidays more joyful for families in our community."

The Dodgers have partnered with the offices of Senator Kevin de León, Councilmember Gil Cedillo, Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez, and Congressman Xavier Becerra for the 11th annual Community Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway and each office selected organizations in its respective district to benefit. Turkeys and fixings are also being provided to pre-selected students in the Dodgers' "Community of Schools," a strategic community partnership to improve the education and wellness of children attending local schools (all Title I) and living in communities surrounding Dodger Stadium. LADF grantees who serve needy kids and families were also pre-selected to receive turkeys and fixings.

"Ralphs and Food 4 Less are committed to helping year round in the fight against hunger in the communities we serve," said Kendra Doyle, Ralphs/Food 4 Less Senior Manager of Community Affairs. "We hope these efforts will help make the holidays a little brighter for those in need."

Volunteers from the Dodgers, local neighborhood organizations and Ralphs/Food 4 Less will be on hand to distribute Thanksgiving goods in lot P at Dodger Stadium, 1000 Elysian Park Avenue, located inside the Sunset Gate at the Top of the Park, starting at 2:00 p.m. Levy Restaurants will provide lunch for all volunteers Thursday.

Members of the media interested in attending Thursday's 11th annual Community Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway can contact the Dodgers' Public Relations department by replying to this email or by calling (323) 224-1301.
