Phillies Announce Spring Training Non-Roster Invitees

The Phillies have signed the following five players to minor league contracts with invitations to major league spring training as non-roster invitees:

Emmanuel Burriss, INF - Burriss, 30, spent the 2015 season in the Washington Nationals organization, batting .279 with a .341 on-base percentage for triple-A Syracuse. He also appeared in five games with the Nationals in June and July. The switch-hitting Burriss made his major league debut in 2008 and spent parts of five seasons (2008-12) with the San Francisco Giants, with whom he played 282 games. He was originally selected by San Francisco between the first and second rounds (33^rd overall) of the June 2006 draft.
Frank Herrmann, RHP - In 52.2 innings pitched last season between triple-A Salt Lake and triple-A Indianapolis, Herrmann went 4-2 with a 3.76 ERA, 53 strikeouts and 10 walks. He has pitched in 95 major league games with the Cleveland Indians (2010-12), most recently posting a 2.33 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched during the 2012 season. Herrmann, 31, has appeared in 269 career minor league games, posting a 40-28 record and 3.87 ERA.
Ryan Jackson, INF - The 27-year-old spent the majority of 2015 in triple-A, where he hit .305 in 19 games with Omaha and .293 in 85 games with Salt Lake. He also appeared in 22 games with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in August and September. Jackson was originally selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fifth round of the June 2009 draft, and has played in 42 major league games in parts of three seasons with the Cardinals (2012-13) and Angels (2015). In 680 career minor league games, he is a .272 hitter with a .343 on-base percentage.
Chris Leroux, RHP - In 2015, Leroux played the majority of his season in triple-A, splitting time between Colorado Springs and Lehigh Valley while also pitching in one game with double-A Reading. He finished his season with a combined 3.90 ERA in 85.1 innings. The 31-year-old veteran has pitched in parts of six major league seasons for the Florida Marlins (2009-10), Pittsburgh Pirates (2010-13) and New York Yankees (2014).
Reinier Roibal, RHP - Roibal, 26, posted a 1.64 ERA in 31 games between single-A Clearwater and double-A Reading last season. He struck out 58 batters in 60.1 innings and recorded a 1.01 WHIP (12 BB, 49 H). Over a four-year minor league career, he has amassed an 11-6 record with a 2.62 ERA and has averaged 8.6 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
