Mariners Trade RHP Jose Ramirez to Atlanta

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto today announced that the Mariners have traded right-handed reliever Jose Ramirez to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for a player to be named later (PTBNL) and cash considerations.

Ramirez, 25, went 1-0 with an 11.57 ERA (6 ER, 4.2 IP) in 5 relief appearances with Seattle after being recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on September 1. He also made a brief stint with the Mariners from July 31-Aug. 3 after being acquired from New York-AL at the trade deadline, but did not appear in a game. Ramirez appeared in 9 games with the Rainiers where he was 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA (13 ER, 13.0 IP) in 9 relief appearances. Prior to joining Seattle he saw action in 3 Major League games with the Yankees this season (0-0, 15.00 ERA). He also went 3-0 with 10 saves and a 2.90 ERA (16 ER, 49.2 IP) in 32 relief appearances over two stinks with AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Ramirez was originally acquired by Seattle along with outfielder Ramon Flores from the New York Yankees in exchange for outfielder Dustin Ackley on July 31, 2015. Over parts of two Major League seasons with New York (2014-15) and Seattle (2015) he is 1-2 with an 8.66 ERA (17 ER, 17.2 IP) in 16 relief appearances.

With today's transactions the Mariners 40-man roster is now at 39.
