The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with left-handed pitcher Dan Jennings ($810,000) and infielder Brett Lawrie ($4.125-million), avoiding arbitration.
Jennings, 28, went 2-3 with a 3.99 ERA (25 ER/56.1 IP), four holds and 46 strikeouts over 53 relief appearances last season, his first with the White Sox. He recorded a 1.39 ERA (5 ER/32.1 IP) in 30 second-half appearances, the second-lowest mark in the American League among relievers. Jennings has gone 5-9 with a 2.99 ERA (52 ER/156.1 IP), 10 holds and 130 strikeouts in 169 career relief appearances with Miami (2012-14) and the Sox (2015). He was acquired by the White Sox from the Marlins in exchange for right-hander Andre Rienzo on December 11, 2014.
 
Lawrie, 25, was acquired from Oakland on December 9, 2015 in exchange for pitchers Zachary Erwin and J.B. Wendelken. He established career bests in virtually every category in 2015, batting .260 (146-562) with 29 doubles, 16 home runs, 60 RBI and 64 runs scored over 149 games with Oakland, his first season with the club. He made 106 starts at third base and 40 at second base with the A's. Lawrie is a career .263 (491-1,866) hitter with 59 homers and 217 RBI in 494 games over five major-league seasons with Toronto (2011-14) and the Athletics (2015).
