The Orioles today announced their 2016 Spring Training promotions and special events schedule featuring many fun-filled promotional giveaways and events for fans to enjoy at Ed Smith Stadium.
On Wednesday, March 2, all fans will receive a Spring Training schedule magnet, presented by Visit Sarasota County, as the Orioles celebrate their Spring Training Opening Day and the start of their seventh season at Ed Smith Stadium. In addition, the first 1,000 female fans will receive a Bird of Paradise flower, presented by Beneva Flowers. The giveaways continue on March 12 when the first 3,000 fans (14 and under) to enter the ballpark will receive a Chick-fil-A Cow Plush Toy.
In addition, fans will enjoy several special events at Ed Smith Stadium throughout Spring Training, including Fireworks Night, presented by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, on March 5 and Kids Run the Bases, presented by Chick-fil-A, on March 12 (for all fans 14 and under). On Monday, March 7, seniors (aged 60 and over) will receive a $2 discount on reserved grandstand tickets and will get their turn to take the field for Seniors Run the Bases. The Orioles will host "Go Green" Day, presented by Waste Pro, for St. Patrick's Day on March 17 at environmentally-friendly Ed Smith Stadium. The team will wear specially-designed, green O's caps, which will be autographed, authenticated, and auctioned online to benefit the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. On March 20, the Orioles will celebrate Youth Baseball Day, presented by The Sarasota YMCA, with an on-field pregame parade for pre-registered youth baseball and softball teams.
The sixth annual All Faiths Food Drive will take place on March 26, when volunteers will collect food and monetary donations at the gates. Since 2011, more than 4,000 pounds of food and more than $5,000 in cash donations have been collected at the yearly food drive to help people in need in the Sarasota community.
