As pitchers and catchers report to Jupiter for spring training today, the St. Louis Cardinals have launched the 2nd Annual Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest to challenge fans to create videos demonstrating their excitement for the 2016 season. The fan who proves they are the ultimate Cardinals fan will win the Ultimate Opening Day VIP experience - - four tickets in the President's private box.
The 2nd Annual Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest, which runs through April 1st, is another in a series of #CardsFanFlix promotions the team has deployed to encourage fans to create and share videos that celebrate the St. Louis Cardinals.
"We can't wait to see all of the submissions to the 2nd Annual Ultimate Fan Contest as we know how excited our fans are for the start of baseball," said Ron Watermon, Vice President of Communications. "Given all the amazing videos our passionate and creative fans created last season, we expect the bar to be set high for whomever will be crowned the 2016 Cardinals' Ultimate Fan."
Seventy fans submitted videos as part of the Ultimate Fan promotion last year and Robbie Sondag, a minister from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, won the first Ultimate Fan contest in 2015 with a music video he produced and set to a very catchy, original rap song he composed.
Fans who participate in the 2nd Annual Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest are being asked to create a video up to two minutes in length that proves they are the Ultimate Cardinals Fan. While fans must respect copyright laws and keep things in good taste, they are encouraged to be creative, show off their talent and convey their enthusiasm for the St. Louis Cardinals. Fans can submit a video via Vine, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo or any other public platform, but in order to be eligible for the contest they must provide the Cardinals a link to the video and complete a short submission form on the contest web page (cardinals.com/ultimatefan).
The 2nd Annual Cardinals Ultimate Fan Video Contest is one of several #CardsFanFlix fan engagement initiatives the team has undertaken to encourage fans to create videos that celebrate the team. Last season, hundreds of fans collectively participated in the various #CardsFanFlix video engagement promotions which included the Ultimate Fan Video Contest, Take Me Out to the Ballgame Music Video contest, 2015 All-Star Video the Vote promotion, Ultimate Fan Broadcaster Contest, Greatest Postseason Moments Contest, #12inStL Fan Video Rally, and the team's season-long celebration of Red Schoendienst's incredible 70+ years in major league baseball, #LoveRed2.
Through the #CardsFanFlix fan engagement initiative, the St. Louis Cardinals hope to tap into the increasing trend of user-generated video content made possible by advances with mobile technology and social media.
