The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has made changes to the staffs at three minor league affiliates. Steve Mintz will manage Low-A Hickory, former Ranger Brian Shouse will be the Double-A Frisco pitching coach, and Joey Seaver has joined the Short-A Spokane staff as pitching coach. These changes are effective for the entire 2016 season.
 
The changes became necessary with the naming of Spike Owen as Rangers interim third base coach. Owen had been slated to serve as manager at Hickory in 2016.
 
Mintz will manage an affiliated club for the first time after working as a pitching instructor at the minor league level for 15 seasons, including the last three at the Texas High-A affiliate. This past offseason, Mintz managed the Adelaide Bite in the Australian Baseball League and led the Bite to the ABL Championship Series. The former big league right-hander pitched professionally for 12 seasons and made 17 relief appearances for the Giants and Angels.
 
Shouse joins the Frisco staff following four seasons with the Arizona Rangers. The former Rangers southpaw joined the organization as a pitching coach in 2012 after appearing in 467 games with six major league teams from 1993-2009.
 
Seaver has been added to the Spokane staff after two seasons as a pitching coach for the Arizona Rangers. He came to the Texas organization with over 24 seasons of coaching experience at the collegiate level, including 14 years at his alma mater, Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee.
