Royals name 2015 minor league award winners

The Kansas City Royals honored seven individuals with minor league awards for the 2015 season, today at the club's Spring Training complex in Surprise, Ariz.

The Kansas City Royals honored seven individuals with minor league awards for the 2015 season, today at the club's Spring Training complex in Surprise, Ariz. 
Honorees included:
Jonathan Dziedzic, recipient of the Paul Splittorff Award - recognizes the top minor league pitcher in the organization. Dziedzic, 25, was selected in the 13th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. He was named the Northwest Arkansas Pitcher of the Year and a Texas League Postseason All Star, going 10-7 with a 3.56 ERA in 27 appearances (26 starts) combined between the Naturals and Omaha (AAA).
Terrance Gore, recipient of the Willie Wilson Baserunner of the Year - recognizes the top baserunner in the organization. Gore, 24, won the award for the fourth-straight year after being selected in the 20th round in 2011. He spent a majority of the season with Northwest Arkansas, batting .284 with four doubles, a triple and 39 stolen bases in 41 attempts. He also played in nine games at the Major League level and appeared in two postseason games.
Eiler Hernandez, recipient of the Carlos Fortuna Award - recognizes a player who is dedicated to improving his English, work ethic and conduct. Hernandez, 21, signed with the Royals as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2011. He split 2015 between Wilmington and Lexington (A), hitting .268 with 26 doubles, four triples, six homers and 54 RBI in 124 games combined between the two stops.
Parker Morin, recipient of the Mike Sweeney Award - recognizes a player who best represents the organization on and off the field. Morin, 24, was selected in the 14th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. He spent a majority of last season with Northwest Arkansas, batting .309 with 10 doubles, five triples, four homers and 30 RBI in 56 games. He also participated in the USA Baseball Premier 12 Tournament in South Korea during the offseason.
Ryan O'Hearn, recipient of the George Brett Hitter of the Year - recognizes the top position player in the organization. O'Hearn, 22, was the Royals' eighth-round selection in 2014. He split 2015 between Wilmington and Lexington, batting a combined .263 with 21 doubles, 27 homers and 77 RBI in 127 games. He was also selected to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game in 2015.
Bubba Starling, recipient of the Frank White Defensive Player of the Year Award - recognizes the organization's top defensive player. Starling, 23, played in 103 games combined at Northwest Arkansas (AA) and Wilmington (A-Advanced) last season and did not commit an error in 201 total chances. The 2011 first-round selection (fifth overall) also recorded four outfield assists.
Ryan Keur, General Manager of Burlington (Rookie) Royals, was the recipient of the Matt Minker Award - recognizing an outstanding minor league affiliate employee. Keur completed his second season with Burlington. He gained national industry-wide recognition for helping Burlington increase its attendance, revenues, promotional activity, and community involvement. In 2015, the Royals drew more than 46,000 fans, a 15 percent increase from 2014, which at the time was a 15-year high.
