SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres and Sycuan Casino today announced they have extended their long-term partnership, ensuring Sycuan, a founding partner of Petco Park, remains in the Padres family at least through the 2020 season.
"Our relationship with Sycuan goes back more than 20 years," said Padres President & CEO Mike Dee. "For two organizations with a shared commitment to the San Diego community, our partnership allows us to make a larger impact together than we would apart. We look forward to working together for many years to come."
"The Sycuan Tribe is excited to grow and expand our support of the Padres and our presence in Petco Park," said Cody J. Martinez, Chairman of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. "Sycuan broke new ground for the first tribal government sponsorship of a Major League Baseball team in the country more than two decades ago, and we are proud of how far we and the team have come.  We all look forward to seeing the upcoming stadium enhancements, support the All-Star game this summer, and of course, root for our hometown team these next five years and beyond."

As part of the multi-faceted partnership, Sycuan Casino will remain the presenting partner of each season's Opening Series and presenting partner of the Opening Day giveaway. As was previously announced, every fan in attendance during the 2016 Opening Series presented by Sycuan Casino against the Los Angeles Dodgers, beginning with Opening Day on Monday, April 4, will receive an Opening Series Rally Towel. Each day of the series will feature a different towel design presented by Sycuan Casino, based on the newly unveiled 2016 Padres jerseys (April 4 - Commemorative home white, April 5 -brown and yellow, April 6 -Navy digital camouflage).
New in 2016, Sycuan's presence at Petco Park will be more visible with the addition of a channel-cut sign atop the Batter's Eye in center field. Sycuan Casino also will be the presenting partner of the annual Native American Day at Petco Park, and will remain the presenting partner of the Padres Foundation's annual Shirts Off Their Backs program, one of the Foundation's biggest fundraisers. Shirts Off Their Backs takes place during the final homestand of each season, giving fans the chance to win a game-worn jersey off the back of a Padres player or coach through the purchase of $1 scratcher tickets. All proceeds from the scratcher ticket sales benefit the Padres Foundation's youth baseball and softball outreach efforts.
The Padres will continue to host the club's annual Partnership Golf Tournament and Season Ticket Member Golf Tournament at Sycuan Golf Resort, in addition to hosting additional partnership activations at the Golf Resort and Casino.
