The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced today an upgrade to one of the newest areas of PNC Park, as the Corner Bar will now be the Block House Corner. Block House Brewing is a local craft brew owned by Pirates partner Pittsburgh Brewing, Co.
The Block House Corner, an outdoor space located at the base of the left field rotunda, is a great extension of the I.C. Light Left Field Landing and will give fans a unique selection of craft brews as well as Pittsburgh staples such as Iron City and I.C. Light. "We constantly look to work with our existing partners to improve the fan experience at PNC Park," said Pirates President Frank Coonelly.
"Pittsburgh Brewing, also an iconic Pittsburgh brand, has been a great partner for many years and this collaboration to further enhance the left field area made perfect sense."
The space debuted in 2015 as the Corner Bar and the new amenity gives fans an area to gather and enjoy the ballpark experience as the entire left field bleacher area will now be a beer-lovers destination spot. The Block House Corner space features a 40-foot long bar and will offer a variety of Pittsburgh Brewing beers, including a number of its local craft brews.
Fans can relax at the bar or at the 60 linear feet of new standing drink rails, while watching the game on a 9- television display integrated into a corten steel wall in the back of the space. To complement the area and ensure fans remain connected to the action, in 2015 the Pirates created new sight lines from the bar area to the playing field by removing block walls previously housing a storage closet under the first level of the rotunda.
"We are very excited to unveil our new 'Block House Corner' in the left field corner and look forward to providing a destination spot with the Pirates for fans at PNC Park," said Brian Walsh, CEO of Pittsburgh Brewing Company. "This season, we are also proud to partner with the Pirates to help give back to our military members who have served our great country."
