Oakland A's right-handed pitcher R.J. Alvarez underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow, the club announced today.
 
The surgery was performed by Dr. Jon Dickinson at Presidio Surgical Center in San Francisco yesterday. Dr. Dickinson performed a debridement of the right elbow and removed loose bodies.
 
Alvarez posted a 9.90 ERA in 21 relief appearances over four stints with the A's last year. He was also 3-3 with five saves and a 4.11 ERA in 31 relief appearances with Triple-A Nashville. The 24-year-old right-hander pitched in four games for the A's this spring and was 0-1 with a 14.73 ERA.
