Padres announce details of Opening Series presented by Sycuan

The San Diego Padres today announced details surrounding the 2016 Opening Series presented by Sycuan Casino against the Los Angeles Dodgers, including Opening Day on Monday, April 4, when right-handed pitcher Tyson Ross is set to take the mound before a sellout crowd.

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced details surrounding the 2016 Opening Series presented by Sycuan Casino against the Los Angeles Dodgers, including Opening Day on Monday, April 4, when right-handed pitcher Tyson Ross is set to take the mound before a sellout crowd.
The 2016 All-Star Season gets underway on Opening Day Monday, April 4, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Every fan in attendance during the Opening Series presented by Sycuan Casino will receive an Opening Series Rally Towel. Each day of the series will feature a different towel design presented by Sycuan Casino, based on the newly unveiled 2016 Padres jerseys (April 4 - Commemorative home white, April 5 -brown and yellow, April 6 -Navy digital camouflage). The team will debut the new jersey designs that correspond to the rally towel giveaway each day of the Opening Series.
Monday's pregame ceremony will feature all the pageantry of Opening Day, including an aerial demonstration by the United States Navy parachute team, also known as the Leap Frogs, and the unfurling of the Holiday Bowl Big Flag, held by 275 Marines and Sailors from 3D Marine Aircraft Wing. Monday's Ceremonial First Pitch will be thrown by Padres Hall of Famer Randy Jones. 2016 marks the 40th anniversary of Jones' Cy Young season, the same season he was named starting pitcher of the All-Star Game.
Singer/songwriter Tinache will perform Monday's National Anthem. Set to release a new album, Joyride, Tanache is in San Diego on tour, and will be performing at the House of Blues San Diego on April 4 at 7:00 p.m. The Anthem will be followed by a flyover by two Marine F/A-18 Deltas from the Vikings of VMFA(AW) 225. In addition, San Diego-based Petty Officer Yarrick Conner will perform God Bless America live prior to the 7th inning stretch. 
With a sellout crowd headed to the ballpark on Monday, fans attending the home opener are advised to arrive early, and guests without pre-purchased parking passes are advised to utilize public transportation. All Petco Park gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Opening Day. This will afford fans the opportunity to watch the Padres take batting practice. Home team batting practice starts at approximately 1:15 p.m., followed by visitors' batting practice at approximately 2:35 p.m. Fans should be in their seats no later than 3:30 p.m., so as not to miss a moment of the 2016 Opening Day pregame ceremony.
Continuing this year, standard Petco Park security procedures, including walk-through metal detectors, will be in place for every game. All fans must be screened as they enter the ballpark. Fans also will continue to have their bags checked by ballpark security staff prior to reaching entry gates and going through metal detectors. Express Entry lines will be available at all main gates for Season Ticket Members and fans without bags. The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will offer additional "Special Event" trolley service from Qualcomm Stadium (with 5,000 free parking spots) and Mission Valley stations to the ballpark area. All three Trolley Lines-Green, Blue and Orange-offer direct service to Petco Park and increased service following the game. The North County Transit District (NCTD) will offer extra Coaster service with trains departing from Oceanside Station at 11:05 a.m., 1:51 p.m. and 2:32 p.m. Free parking is available at all North County Coaster stations and RegionPlus Day fares include free trolley connections. On Tuesday, the Padres will debut the new brown and yellow jerseys, which will be worn for home Friday games this season. All fans in attendance on Tuesday will receive a corresponding brown and yellow jersey rally towel presented by Sycuan Casino.
Tuesday's 7:10 p.m. game against the Dodgers will be the first opportunity for fans to see the new LED ballpark lights used to their full entertainment capacity.
Tuesday also marks the season's first Taco Tuesday presented by Cholula Hot Sauce, with pollo asado street taco specials at locations throughout the ballpark.
On Wednesday, the Padres will debut the new Navy digital camouflage uniforms, which will be worn for most home Military Sunday games this season. All fans in attendance on Wednesday will receive a corresponding Navy digital camouflage jersey rally towel presented by Sycuan Casino.
Wednesday marks the first College Night of the season with DJ Happee spinning in the Budweiser Patio starting at 5:00 p.m. and discounted tickets starting at $10 for college students with a valid student ID. For more details on College Nights throughout the season visit www.padres.com/college.
