Oakland A's fans can now raise money for personal causes or their favorite charity, thanks to a new online fundraising platform the team unveiled today. Athletics.com/care allows fans to create fundraising campaigns and invite others to participate in their cause, with 100% of funds benefitting the campaign.
"We are committed to building a better community and this online tool allows our fans to promote and raise funds for organizations they're passionate about," said A's President Michael Crowley. "Additionally, it serves as another way for us to raise funds for charities our team supports. We are also proud to say that unlike other online fundraising, all money raised will go directly to the benefitting organization."
In addition to fan-generated campaigns, fans can support team causes, including breast cancer awareness and research, juvenile diabetes, prostate cancer, and autism. To launch the platform, the A's are raising funds for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, in memory of former A's outfielder Dave Henderson, and Cortney's Place of Scottsdale, Ariz., in memory of former A's infielder Tony Phillips.
