Prior to tonight's game, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Erik Johnson from Class AAA Charlotte.
Johnson, 26, takes the roster spot of outfielder J.B. Shuck, who was optioned to Charlotte following last night's game vs. the Angels. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Johnson is 0-1 with a 4.22 ERA (5 ER/10.2 IP) and 12 strikeouts over two starts with the Knights this season.
Johnson went 3-1 with a 3.34 ERA (13 ER/35.0 IP) and 30 strikeouts in six starts with the White Sox last season. He has gone 7-4 with a 4.17 ERA (40 ER/86.1 IP) and 66 strikeouts in 16 career starts over parts of three major-league seasons (2013-15) after being selected by Chicago in the second round of the 2011 draft.
