White Sox Recall Scott Carroll from Triple-A Charlotte

Prior to tonight's game vs. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Scott Carroll from Class AAA Charlotte and sent catcher Alex Avila on an injury rehabilitation assignment to Charlotte.

Prior to tonight's game vs. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Scott Carroll from Class AAA Charlotte and sent catcher Alex Avila on an injury rehabilitation assignment to Charlotte. Carroll takes the roster spot of right-hander Erik Johnson, who was optioned to the Knights following last night's game.
Carroll, 31, has appeared in three games with Charlotte this season, going 0-1 with a 12.27 ERA (5 ER/3.2 IP). He made 18 relief appearances with the White Sox last season, going 1-1 with a 3.44 ERA (14 ER/36.2 IP). Carroll made 11 appearances of 2.0-plus IP in 2015, including a career-high 4.2 IP on May 9 vs. Cincinnati.
Avila, 29, has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 24 with a strained right hamstring. He is hitting .214 (6-28) with one double and five walks this season, his first with the White Sox after signing as a free agent on December 4, 2015.
