The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Brandon Kintzler from Triple-A Rochester. The Twins have also recalled left-handed pitcher Pat Dean from Rochester. Kintzler, who has made 172 career major league appearances with the Brewers, has gone 4-1, 3.52 ERA (15.1 IP, 6 ER) with three walks and 11 strikeouts in 10 games for the Red Wings this season. Dean, who led all of Triple-A in innings pitched last season with 179.0 innings, has gone 1-3, 3.00 ERA (36.0 IP, 12 ER) with seven walks and 20 strikeouts in six starts for the Red Wings this season.
To make room for Kintzler and Dean on the 25-man roster, the Twins have outrighted left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone to Triple-A Rochester. Casey Fien was claimed by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Additionally, the Twins have placed shortstop Eduardo Escobar on the 15-day disabled list with a left-groin strain, an injury he suffered last night in Chicago. To replace Escobar on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled infielder Jorge Polanco from Rochester.
All three players will be in uniform tonight vs, the Chicago White Sox. Kintzler will wear uniform number #27 and Dean will wear #64.
The Twins 40-man roster is now at 39 players.
