Prior to tonight's series opener at Texas, the Chicago White Sox announced the following three roster moves:
· Recalled right-handed pitcher Miguel Gonzalez from Class AAA Charlotte.
· Designated catcher Hector Sanchez for assignment.
· Returned catcher Alex Avila from his injury rehab assignment at Charlotte and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list.
Gonzalez, 31, is scheduled to start tonight's game at the Rangers. He received a no decision in his only start this season on April 25 at Toronto, allowing five runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts over 5.1 IP. Gonzalez has gone 1-0 with a 2.65 ERA (5 ER/17.0 IP) and 18 strikeouts over four starts with the Knights this season.
